Geschiedenis
Baroness Alice de Rothschild, born in Franckfort in 1847, until her death in 1922, possessed numerous collections of rare and diverse objects, porcelain boxes, dolls ... and an exceptional collection of smoking pipes: 420 pipe bowls and 103 matchboxes. When she died, his cousin Edmond de Rothschild inherited the complete estate and donated this collection to the City of Grasse in 1927.

Collectie
A unique and unusual collection! The Baroness Rothschild collection of smoking pipes, mainly composed of fine pieces made in porcelain and carved wood, also contains specimen in meerschaum, ceramic, metal, Venetian glass, horn or mineral origin with inlays of mother-of-pearl and precious or semi-precious stones. The smoking pipes in Grasse are mostly from the 18th and 19th centuries and are mostly from Germany and Austria-Hungary.
